Inclement Weather Policy

If there is a delay, early dismissal or closing for that day, the information will be transmitted in several methods:

1.      It will be posted in the pop-up box on the bottom middle of the web site.  

2.      If possible, an email will be sent to all parents and employees

3.      A message will be posted on the school information line, 301-962-9400, x 5555 after 6:30 am for inclement weather decisions. 

4.      A text message will be sent by our EX Testing Service and show up as 313131. To register your cell phone, visit http://www.mjbha.org/Parents/Inclement_Weather_Policy/Cell_Phone_Registration.cfm. 

Please note that we do not follow the decisions of Montgomery County Public Schools for inclement weather closings. Closing information will be posted on our website by approximately 6:00am and will be sent to all email addresses of record.  Our closing information will be available at NCB4, nbc4.com, WJLA-TV ABC7, News Channel 8 and at WTOP radio stations.  In addition, you may call the school weather information line at 301/962-9400 x5555.

On “delayed opening” days, classes will begin at 10:00 A.M. There is no supervision before 9:45 am
In the event that inclement weather requires that we dismiss early, there will be no day care on those days. 

Bus riders will be taken home by bus unless otherwise instructed.  Staff members will supervise children waiting for carpools until they are picked up. If your child is not going home, please make sure that s/he knows where to go and leave that information with the front office. We will not leave any children unattended, but ask you to be prompt in picking them up in consideration of the employees who are caring for them.

On days that school is closed or closes early due to the weather, all after school activities, including sports, meetings, etc. are also canceled.

Please keep the information line number at work so that you have it available when needed. We appreciate your not calling the school’s main telephone line for school closing information. As always, if you change jobs or move during the school year, please update your emergency information in the front office immediately so we can reach you if needed.
