MJBHA Star Basketball Players
Two of MJBHA's star basketball players were singled out by the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference as high achievers.
Benjy Karlin ('09) was named to the PVAC Second Team All-Conference, while Jacob Colburn ('10) was chosen for PVAC'S Honorable Mention team.
Both Karlin and Colburn were named to the all-conference teams by a PVAC sport committee, made up of varsity head coaches of a sport and a chairperson.
"Those chosen by the PVAC represent the best players in the league,"
said Steve Achhammer, coach of the MJBHA varsity basketball team and a member of PVAC's Board of Directors. "To be recognized by all the boys'
varsity basketball coaches in the league really means these guys have achieved something great."
Karlin, the MJBHA Varsity Boys' captain, was the top vote-getter on the second team, making him the sixth pick overall, after the five players on the first team.
"Benjy is the most spirited player we have," Achhammer said. "He is always out there giving 100%, both physically and emotionally, on the court."
Colburn, recognized as an honorable mention player by the league, has worked hard on his game, Achammer said. "This year, he became a major scoring threat for us. He's a good outside shooter and rebounder. He plays hard every game and has really made strides this year in improving his game."
