Gifts to the annual, Capital and Endowment campaigns provide funding for the following areas. An endowed gift ensures that these programs will continue in perpetuity.
Scholarships provide full and partial tuition assistance for students who would otherwise not be able to obtain a Jewish education.
Athletics promote student fitness and healthy competition through team sports and health and fitness programming. This encompasses equipment maintenance, general recreation items, coaches, uniforms, equipment and referees.
Building Beautification and general upkeep and maintenance, sanitation and landscaping help our students take pride in their school.
Commemorative Days such as Yom Ha’atzmauot, Yom Hashoah, Yom Ha’zikaron, and Rosh Chodesh usher in special celebrations and commemorations to help our students and the broader community remember and appreciate history and the Jewish calendar.
Curricular Initiatives introduce new materials, teaching methods, assessments and standards into the classroom. New initiatives in 2006-2007 include the introduction of Arabic as a foreign language, the Bonayich mishnah program and Tal Am Judaics.
Enrichment and Special Services provide resources to help students who benefit from one-on-one intervention as well as for those who require enrichment in math or language arts. It also provides resources to teach English to non-native speakers.
Experiential Learning opportunities such as field trips, mock trial, math leagues, model UN, newspaper, yearbook and literary magazine round out students’ experiences at MJBHA and allow them to excel in areas other than academics.
Hebrew Language is taught beginning in preschool with Ivrit Immersion, continuing with reading libraries and culminating in the NETA Program, a nationally acclaimed Hebrew language curriculum which includes a substantial teacher training program and materials. Participation in NETA includes annual visits from a mentor to assess teaching performance and standardized tests that track student progress from year to year.
Institutional Advancement helps further the image of MJBHA in the broader Jewish community. Funds allow us to publish professional quarterly issues of a glossy newsletter, weekly email announcements, occasional e-postcards, alumni correspondence and a robust website.
Library books open new worlds to all children, and resource books and computers are invaluable ways of expanding our children’s horizons.
Milestone Events such as when students receive new sifrei kodesh, the first siddur party, the first chumash presentation, graduations and the middah program instill love and joy of Judaism.
Music and Performing Arts foster creativity and rhythm for students in 2 year nursery through 12th grade. MJBHA provides many opportunities to learn music and movement, including music class, instrumental lessons, jazz band, choir, HADAS plays and chug drama.
Professional Development initiatives provide fundamental teacher training to keep teachers motivated and updated on the latest pedagogical theory in order to help them continuously improve classroom instruction methods and integrate new teaching methods and curriculum.
Science funds assist with the purchase of consumables and general supplies such as beakers, bunsen burners, dissectables, etc.
Security keeps our students and staff safe. MJBHA employs two full-time security guards and a full-time registered nurse and utilizes an electronic key system, multiple cameras and a remote monitoring system, an alarm system and fire protection.
Simchat Chagim celebrations of Rosh Hashanah, Simchat Torah, Tu B'Shevat and Chanukah give our students the opportunity to prepare for the holidays in joyful anticipation.
Technology to keep MJBHA students wired requires computer maintenance, upgrades, networking, software licensing, consumable supplies and new computer equipment such as laptops and computer projectors.
Visual Arts and Cultural Arts through the Helene Berman Seidenfeld Visual Arts Center and Deborah Lerner Gross Jewish Cultural Arts Center have greatly enriched the lives of our students. Additional funding for programming and supplies enhances the program further.
