Teacher Absences

The Upper School policy is to attempt to provide a substitute teacher whenever possible to cover a teacher’s class when an instructor is absent. Instructors regularly leave work assignments for such periods, and occasionally the substitute provides an instructional session. In the event that information about an absent teacher has not yet reached a classroom, students are required to remain in the classroom, and to send a single student to inquire from the Upper School office as to what should take place. Because of the nature of the MJBHA facility, classes granted a free period will be expected to remain in the assigned classroom unless the administration explicitly provides those students with another option.
