A. Gambling: Students are prohibited from engaging in games of chance or pools in which money is won and lost. Students engaging in gambling will be served with one or some of the administrative consequences.
B. Visitors: For reasons of both security and academic focus, the school generally does not permit friends of students from visiting during normal school days. We may admit outside students to participate during the school day for college visits or Israeli yeshiva visits, but in all such cases these students are required to obtain pre-approval by an Upper School administrator. Also, visitors should not attend any after-hours MJBHA school-sponsored event that is designed specifically for our students. All visitors to the school, including alumni who wish to visit with former teachers, must be in dress code, or they will be asked to wait by the school entry at the security desk.
Parents who wish to visit our classrooms are always welcome to do so. We ask that parents contact the office in advance of a visit so that we can help coordinate around assemblies, tests, trips, and other disruptions to the normal schedule.
C. Guidance: The Upper School guidance department members serve as a resource for college guidance and standardized testing, but primarily function as student advocates whose main purpose is to shepherd students through their schooling as smoothly as possible. The guidance department should be consulted on issues of placement, homework load, friendships, family relationships, and emotional responses to events that occur and now bear on how the student functions in school. While rebbeim, administrators, and other staff members may be able to and often do lend an ear to student concerns, the guidance team has the training and the experience to effectively advise students through school and life issues.
D. Mashgiach Ruchani: The Upper School designates key members of the Judaic staff to serve as a confidential resource for all students who wish to explore additional religious questions and issues not explored (sufficiently) in the shiurim and classes.
