Israel Guidance
The Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy is committed to instilling in our students moral values, social and personal responsibility and a commitment to Torah and mitzvot. It is also our mission to encourage our students to become actively committed to the Jewish people as well as to the State of Israel.
Students often need time away from their regular school routines to focus on this aspect of their education. It is our belief that giving our students time in Israel accomplishes this goal. We encourage our graduates to consider this option before continuing with their college education.
There are many excellent programs that are available for our students to take advantage of. Our Israel advisors, Ms. Pessie Novick and Rabbi Moshe Grosberg work with each student in identifying programs that are best suited for each individual. There are a wide range of options, including traditional seminary programs, yeshivot, programs that combine learning with sheirut l’eumi, single gender and co-ed programs that focus on the study of Torah and those that are secular.
Each student has a consultation with the appropriate advisor to begin the process. Students receive information and applications when available. The advisors can assist in ensuring that applications are clear and correctly filled out. Both Ms. Novick and Rabbi Grosberg can also assist students in the financial aid process for Israel programs.
Both Ms. Novick and Rabbi Grosberg are available to discuss all aspects of the Israel program with parents.
