Preschool Philosophy

Our Preschool warmly welcomes each young child to their first formal school experience. We emphasize sharing and caring and encourage compassion for others. Middot/values lessons are incorporated and focused on as the highest of all priorities.

Our nurturing and supportive environment gives each child an active role in exploring, discovering and learning the skills that foster their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. It is our hope that the children will develop positive self-esteem and the confidence to make a difference in our community and world.

Our dual Judaic and general studies curriculum introduces tefillah (prayer), parsha (weekly Torah portion), brachot (blessings), chagim (Jewish and secular holidays), seasons, community helpers, nutrition, safety, colors and shapes. In addition, our “Handwriting without Tears” writing curriculum provides tools, workbooks and materials to help implement a strong introduction to writing. Our print-rich environment reinforces our well-rounded and balanced literacy program.

Our nurturing teachers encourage critical thinking skills, teach problem solving and build self esteem. Jewish identity and the love for Israel are at the core of our program, creating a strong positive commitment to Yiddishkeit.

Philosophy:

We provide each child with a comprehensive preschool experience, focusing on the growth and development of the whole child in all areas: emotional, spiritually, physical, social and intellectual. We strive to stimulate a child’s natural creative interests and help build a positive self image in a warm, nurturing and accepting environment. Our program recognizes that not only are these areas of growth of equal importance, but each is interrelated. The individuality of each child is recognized, and we respond to each child’s individual needs and interests. These areas of growth are used to integrate the study of Torah, parsha, Hebrew language and midot tovot. Hebrew language is introduced through songs, games, holiday fun and conversation. An optional Hebrew immersion program is offered for four-year olds. The program values teachers, parents and the community as partners in our children’s education and development. Professional, competent, and caring staff and an outstanding ratio of adults to children complete our exciting program.

Our Goals:
To help each child develop a positive self-image and a love of learning. This is accomplished through classroom experiences and hands on learning activities.

To further knowledge and understanding of Judaism through davening, tzedakah, weekly parsha, chagim, brachot, midot tovot and Shabbat.

To stimulate language development and reading through a print-rich environment.

To develop an awareness of the five senses.

To stimulate learning through a variety of classroom experiences and resources including: dramatic play/storytelling, outdoor play/physical education, computers, science, music, art/crafts, cooking and field trips.

To create an atmosphere stressing Middot Torot. Mitzvot are emphasized, which supports the social aspect of learning.
